85. What Ev Learned From The Biohacking Conference
Monday Oct 18, 2021
Monday Oct 18, 2021
Today's episode is relatively short and sweet, with a simple but ESSENTIAL lesson that we must all learn if we're really going to get well and stay well. This lesson is so important, that it is a fact that every single person with an amazing health transformation you've ever heard (and will hear) on this podcast HAD to practice it to get to where they are today. Head to the link in our bio to make sure you're applying this principle! You can find out more about FDNthrive by going to www.fdnthrive.com.

84. Asthma, Digestive Issues, and Heart Surgery w/ Rachel Smith, FDN-P
Friday Oct 15, 2021
Friday Oct 15, 2021
Could you imagine being told you need heart surgery in your early 20's? Worse yet, could you imagine going through with the surgery, only to be told that IT'S NOT YOUR HEART? Well, our guest today, Rachel Smith, went through exactly that (and a heck of a lot more).
Now, at only 26 years old, she is happy to say that her health is the best it's ever been. Her and Detective Ev both agreed that their experience with the FDN system has almost felt like "reverse-aging," since they had both been sick most of their lives prior to finding this program.
About Rachel:
Rachel Smith has been studying health and wellness for over 6 years. She has a background in healthcare administration, scientific research, martial arts fitness instruction, and is a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. She is the owner of Natural Health Rising, which is an online holistic wellness company where she helps women naturally reverse their symptoms who have been struggling with autoimmune diseases, mysterious illnesses, and other chronic health issues. She is a huge advocate of using food and lifestyle changes as medicine. Rachel is on a mission to help people rise to their healthiest, happiest selves.

83. World Mental Health Day Tribute w/ Detective Ev
Monday Oct 11, 2021
Monday Oct 11, 2021
For those that don't know, October 10th is World Mental Health Day. And, in our world of functional medicine, mental health challenges are pretty much par for the course.
As someone who dealt with extreme mental health challenges himself, Detective Ev wanted to take today to talk about mental health, how it relates to functional medicine, and much more.
We appreciate you listening, and remember, if you're dealing with mental health challenges in silence, there is HELP, and there is HOPE. If you don't believe that, listen to this episode, or a variety of other amazing episodes from our guests on this podcast.

We are so happy to be sharing such a REAL and RAW story with you tonight. It is a story that includes a topic that has never been mentioned on this show yet, bulimia.
Through her authenticity, our guest, Margot Shute, did an amazing job at breaking down the experience of those who suffer from this eating disorder. Additionally, we learned what one can do when weight issues have become a LEGITIEMATE issue, even with a history of eating disorders. This is especially important because the LAST thing we ever want to do is trigger someone's prior history of an eating disorder through body-shaming or magic diets.
In this episode, Margot covers all of this and more!
About Margot:

Hi folks! Did you know that today is International Podcast Day? (Yes, they really do have a holiday for just about EVERYTHING nowadays, don't they?) [LINK in bio] Well, we're always up for a celebration! So, today, we did things a little differently... In an effort to highlight some truly amazing stories on this show, and to encourage newer listeners to make sure they go check out the AWESOME guests that helped to build this podcast along the way, this episode highlights the top 5 most memorable episodes on the show! Of course, this list is completely subjective, and its nearly impossible to pick a top 5 "best" for a show like this, as every guest has something special to offer in their own way. However, we selected these based solely on memorability, meaning that the episode really had a huge "wow" moment! We hope you enjoy the episode :)! Thanks for supporting The Health Detective Podcast! 78. What Diet Does FDNthrive Suggest? w/ Detective Ev
Thursday Sep 23, 2021
Thursday Sep 23, 2021
In this episode, we reveal the big secret... The answer to a question we get asked about all of the time on our calls with people looking into joining the FDNthrive program!
And that question is, "What diet do you suggest?"
The answer? NONE.
You, believe it or not, are a unique individual. One of over 7 billion people on this planet. When you put it that was, it seems pretty ridiculous that there are still people and health professionals with MAJOR influence promoting one-size-fits-all diet programs.
Folks, if you're a regular listener to the podcast, you've heard how amazing these stories are. People restoring their health after YEARS of health issues, from autoimmune diseases, to mental health challenges, and even cancers.
Do you REALLY think this happens with a one-size-fits-all approach? Or would it be more likely that these people figured out what works for THEIR body, applied it, and their body got back into the state of health it was designed to be in?
Well, how do we go about figuring out which diet may be most optimal for you at a given time? Are there general principles you can follow today to at least get you in the right direction if you're not quite ready for the program yet?
Both of these questions are answered in tonight's episode with Detective Ev!
Enjoy!

#77: Glutathione - A Missing Key to Wellness w/ Gian-Carlo Torres
Monday Sep 20, 2021
Monday Sep 20, 2021
Tonight's episode is with an extremely interesting individual, Gian-Carlo Torres! As our current youngest guest to date, Gian-Carlo actually did not deal with any major health challenges himself. Instead, he watched his mom, someone who he was extremely close to, get sicker and sicker. The worst part (that all too many of you who listen to this podcast can relate to)? They had no idea WHY. Well, as luck would have it, they eventually found his mom's missing link. In fact, it worked so well, that this became the foundation for Gian-Carlo's career, and his passion and story has taken him to over $1 million a year in annual sales! We'd like to thank @ for coming on and sharing his family's story. This guy brings the ENERGY even through audio, that much is for sure! #76: Becoming Superhuman, Simply w/ Andy Petranek
Thursday Sep 16, 2021
Thursday Sep 16, 2021
We're taking a bit of a different but still very FUN route today with our guest, Andy Petranek! While Andy might not have the stereotypical story we usually hear on this show (that is, one of severe, long-term health issues), he IS someone that has mastered two essential pieces of one's healing journey: Mindset and habits. The reason this is important is because if you want ABNORMAL results (like the ones our clients or guests on the podcast get), then you're going to need to take abnormal action. The first step in changing our actions is ALWAYS getting our mind right, and in this episode, Andy will show you how to do just that! A little about Andy: He holds a master’s degree in spiritual psychology and has been the beneficiary of decades of personal self-exploration, discovery, and expansion through his work with coaches, healers, guides, and teachers. A veteran of multiple overseas deployments including Operation Desert Storm, Andy is a former United States Marine who served for four years as a combat engineer and small unit commander. A Red Bull sponsored athlete in the sport of adventure racing, he captained teams and navigated courses all over the world in races like the Eco Challenge and Raid Gauloises; in 2009 he became the oldest competitor to qualify for and compete in the CrossFit Games. Where Andy is at now: Andy Petranek is a professional life, leadership, and performance coach who’s been helping people create greater levels of confidence, joy, fulfillment, and success in their lives for over 25 years. It was an absolute blast having him on, and if nothing else, we believe just about anyone would thoroughly enjoy this interview! You can find out more about Andy by going to https://andypetranek.com/. You can find out more about FDNthrive by going to www.fdnthrive.com.
