Why Detective Ev Now Recommends Using Tech To Track Sleep And Stress w/ Detective Ev
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
For the longest time, Detective Ev had been REALLY against sleep and fitness trackers/wearable devices. However, after a recent experience with one, he realized just how much they could truly help!
In today's episode of the podcast, he discussess why he now believes the pros of these devices greatly outweigh the cons, but it also brings up a bigger point...
Ev realized that, ironically, he was having a true "FDN" experience. That is, he had been feeling off, and so he went and sought out objective data to get to the bottom of it. This is something that it took him years to do in the past, but this time, it only took a short while.
So, whether it's a wearable device, or working with one of our trained detectives to go over your functional lab results, remember to always #TestNotGuess!
Do you use a wearable? Which one have you found to be most useful? Drop us a commont on social or on our Podbean! Ev responds to all comments there.

How Trauma Affects Mental Health w/ Detective Ev
Monday Feb 21, 2022
Monday Feb 21, 2022
As someone who dealt with mental health issues himself, Detective Ev knows firsthand that there are MANY contributing factors to mental health issues. It is extremely important that those of us in the functional space are still respectful to the variety of things that could lead to someone having mental health challenges.
One of the things that bridges the worlds of conventional and functional medicine together (when it comes to mental health) is trauma. If that statement confuses you, then this short and sweet episode is one you'll want to listen to! Detective Ev explains threes different categories of contributing factors to mental health issues, and how trauma plays a role in each of them.
Regardless of the route anyone has to take, we wish the absolute best to those dealing with these things. We SEE you and HEAR you!

How To Get Younger As You Age w/ Debbie Potts, FDN-P
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
After over 25 years of being a personal trainer, Debbie Potts now coaches the WHOLE individual to burn fat, optimize health and improve their aging process. Debbie helps driven, ambitious, high performing individuals who are trying to do all the “right” things, get their body and vibrant self back again by investigating what is actually going on “under the hood." She believes too many people struggle with unexplained weight gain, chronic fatigue, and digestion issues.
The worst part? They blame the aging process or simply accept these imbalances as their new “normal." Instead of blaming aging,, Coach Debbie looks at the WHOLE individual by running a comprehensive investigation as a “Health Detective." She doesn't want you to waste years being stuck in the cycle of “trial and error” or just settling for these unexplained symptoms.
Debbie went from a high performing, top age group Ironman athlete in 2012 to gaining 30 lbs., experiencing chronic fatigue, and struggling with unexplained symptoms in just a matter of months. Now, not only is she feeling better than ever, but she is an author of the book "Life is not a Race… it is a Journey," as well as a long-time podcast host of a show called "The Low Carb Athlete," which is a weekly podcast to help athletes of all levels improve their ability to burn fat, optimize their health from the inside out and achieve their peak performance gains.

Redefining What Stress Is w/ Detective Ev
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Stress. It's a word that we learn from a very younge age.
When we're young, maybe we think of stress as being late to hand in our homework. As we grow older, perhaps stress comes in the form of relationship issues, being late to work, or missing the deadline on that important project. It is true that ALL of these are examples of stress!
But, when it comes to those of us who have dealt with/are dealing with chronic disease, we need to define stress in a much broader way.
Yes, lifestyle factors play a huge role. In fact, we'd confidently say that any practitioner that ignores those is doing you a disservice. At the same time, though, we work with PLENTY of people who have done a great job in the lifestyle area, and yet they still can't figure out what's going on.
The cause of all chronic disease is one or more forms of stress sustained for a long period of time. So, if you're sick and doing "everything right," then something deeper MUST be going on by definition. That's where we come in.
In this brief episode, we give some examples of those stressors so that you have a new way to look at your health challenges!

In this interview, Detective Ev had a blast talking with fellow biohacking enthusiast, Mollie McGlocklin!
We all know sleep is important, but very few people want to get down and dirty when it comes to the science of truly optimizing this. If you're looking to get a level of sleep you didn't know was possible, then you've come to the right podcast!
Mollie is the creator of Sleep Is A Skill and the host of The Sleep Is A Skill Podcast.
