Top 5 Reasons FDN Is TOUGH But Worth It! w/ Detective Ev
Wednesday Sep 14, 2022
Wednesday Sep 14, 2022
Detective Ev has been spending some time in the FDN Trainee group, and he noticed a few common concerns coming up! He's occasionally seen things like:
"I just don't think I can finish in time!"
Or...
"I am really having trouble in this module. I don't understand it! Maybe I'm not cut out for this work."
The good news is that these are ABSOULTELY not things to worry about, but it's understandably hard to realize that when you're actively going through the course.
So, in today's episode of the podcast, Detective Ev is discussing both questions listed above. Specifically, he's talking about WHY you don't need to worry, as well as the resources we provide to you as FDNs in training to help you get through the course.
Finally, he goes into the top 5 (practical) reasons FDN is TOTALLY worth it despite being a tougher course.
We hope you enjoy this episode!

Thursday Sep 08, 2022
Thursday Sep 08, 2022
Our guest today, Jenn Cino, is a perfect example of who the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Couse is for!
Having a family history of autoimmune disorders (mom was diagnosed with MS, dad with scleroderma), Jenn knows all too well how real the suffering of those with chronic health issues is. At a young age, Jenn would also find herself dealing with chronic symptoms, and she eventually received a diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Jenn wasn't just going to throw in the towel on her health, though. She began studying more alternative methods, and found a few things that got the needle moving in the right direction. As you may have already guessed, this led to her finding FDN, and Jenn's health and business completely transformed once she went through the course!
More about Jenn:
Jenn Cino is an FDN-P, Certified Personal Trainer, and the creator of fit + functional, a program dedicated to helping women find the underlying root cause of their health issues. She has been featured in publications such as Byrdie and Sunday Riley and has written for Forbes on the benefits of cycle-syncing your business. Through her own journey of health and healing, Jenn has been able to work 1-to-1 with over 300 women worldwide since 2020.

Hidden Symptoms Of Mold Exposure w/ Shalin Zapletal
Sunday Aug 28, 2022
Sunday Aug 28, 2022
After gaining over forty pounds in a matter of MONTHS for seemingly no reason, Shalin knew something was wrong. At the time, she was working as a successful journalist who didn't know much of anything about functional medicine.
She soon found herself stuck in something we frequently talk about on this show: the cycle of trial and error. That is, she was bouncing around from doctor to doctor, trying diet after diet without real, lasting results.
Her hardwork DID lead to something positive eventually, and she was lucky enough to find a practitioner that identified her mold problem (it turns out she had a bad water leak RIGHT before she got sick).
Fast forward several years later, and Shalin is no longer in journalism and NO LONGER sick. She now works as a full-time Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner in her own business. We hope you enjoy listening to this incredible transformation!
About Shalin:
Shalin Zapletal is a root cause practitioner who helps women experiencing mystery symptoms and weight gain EVEN WHEN they’re doing all the right diet and lifestyle things (and the doctors have run out of options).

Shining Light On Mast Cell Activation Syndrome w/ Nicole Dube, FDN-P
Wednesday Aug 24, 2022
Wednesday Aug 24, 2022
On today's episode, we're touching on a condition that hasn't been brought up on this show before: Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).
MCAS is a diagnosable condition, but it is something that often goes undetected by western medicine's radars. Doctors and patients are usually quite confused about what is happening, and the best they can offer the patient is to treat it. The patient will end up taking high dosages of anti-histamines amongst other medications, and may even be told to seek disability (as was the case for our guest, Nicole Dube).
But Nicole is a different type of person. She was not ready to accept this recommendation of disability at such a young age. In her eyes, her life was not over yet.
Due to Nicole's trust in her intuition and amazing discipline, she eventually got her health 90% of the way back (and counting). She is NOT on disability, and instead has a list of impressive achievements which you can read below. We hope you enjoy this episode!
About Nicole: Nicole Dube is a state-certified, double board-certified clinical and holistic nutritionist and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. She has been in private practice for over nine years and uses her personal experience with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and POTS to help her clients go beyond managing symptoms and look for the underlying pieces to their healing puzzle. Her mission is to teach people to approach healing holistically - addressing body, mind, and spirit in order to give the body the tools it needs to begin healing.

Today we have a special guest, and it's not just because of his knowledge in functional health and mobility!
Dr. Ben Torres is a good friend of Detective Ev's, and in a sense, he's one of the main reasons Ev is even a podcaster! More importantly, he is a doctor of Physical Therapy who greatly appreciates what we do at FDN, and has run the labs himself for his own health challenges.
On this episode, we'll briefly touch on some of the health challenges Dr. Torres has went through, and then we'll spend the rest of the time focusing on tips and tricks those of us who work from home can do to make sure we are covering mobility in our health plan.
About Ben:
Ben Torres is a doctor of Physical Therapy, owner of 180 Body at Home Rehab, and creator of the Online Doctor’s Academy, a program where he helps other health care practitioners learn how to get their business successfully online!
